Abolition & Justice

Decarcerate: prisons are not and have never been the answer. We stand for a future where justice is built on community care, not punishment. Join us in advocating for the abolition of the prison industrial complex and supporting those impacted by incarceration.

Understanding the Prison Industrial Complex

Prisons often make individuals worse, failing to rehabilitate and instead perpetuating a cycle of harm. The "three strikes" law, a policy that disproportionately targeted people of color, enriched the prison industrial complex without making communities safer or fostering rehabilitation. These are proven facts, yet awareness remains low, and the narratives are often twisted by the CDCr. It's time to challenge these systems and amplify the voices of the incarcerated. Let's demand to hear their stories and examine the documented evidence to truly understand the need to abolish the prison industrial complex.

Beyond the Bars: Our Approach

Our lived experiences and the untold stories from within the system highlight the profound failures of current carceral structures. Consider the unprecedented SB-132, a bill that has become law, yet the CDCr finds ways to circumvent its intent, putting LGBTQ+ lives at risk. For years, LGBTQ+ individuals have endured horrific violence within these systems. How can we trust a system that disregards its own rules? These atrocities are committed by US citizens against other US citizens, often fueled by prejudice against those who are incarcerated or identify outside the gender binary they were assigned at birth. If these are the reasons for indifference, then those who ignore these truths are no better than those who perpetrate the violence.

Join the Movement for Justice

We are fighting for a justice system that prioritizes rehabilitation, community, and human dignity. Your support is crucial. Without donations, we cannot provide essential services to our community members, especially those returning from incarceration. We want them to know they are loved and supported. Prisons are not solutions; they are warehouses for profit that fail to foster genuine rehabilitation, breeding distrust and disdain. Get involved, support the movement, and connect with someone inside to hear their story. There aren't enough people listening. Start listening. Unsolved lives lost in prison signify a lack of care. The CDCr perpetuates violence against LGBTQ+ people and covers up these stories. Investigate these truths; when a life is taken, it is no longer confidential, whether in prison or in the community. Justice must be served. These issues persist because there is no justice for the lives lost, not even an investigation. We find this unacceptable. What do you find unacceptable?
